Coffee And Cheesecake

by Kevin on April 14, 2009

Let’s be honest it is difficult, very difficult to be creative all the time. Like it or not writers block is an ongoing condition but here’s just one way I try to kick the devil into touch: coffee and cheesecake

There is a bookshop near me and down below in the cellar there is a quaint little coffee shop with lots of magazines strewn around the place. Just ordinary plain magazines like you’d find in a doctor’s or dentist surgery. That’s one of the places I head when writers block raises it’s head

Anyway I order a coffee and piece of home-made cheesecake grab one of the magazines and head right to the short story – there is always a short story. I read it, finish my coffee and go home and then do my best to rewrite the story in my own words, when I’ve that done I wipe it from my computer, tear up the hard copy, throw it in the waste paper basket and for some strange reason it sets my creative juices to work again.

That’s just one of the little tricks I use to overcome writers block, I’ll share more in the future. Anyone for cheesecake?
