Whidbey Writing Competition

Here is one you can enter no matter where you live. The prize might not be great but it’s free to enter and you don’t have to write any more than 1,000 words

The competition is for fiction, creative non-fiction, poetry and writing for children or young adults.

I should add that the organizers have a strange way of selecting winners. The judge gets a pile and starts reading until they find one that ‘knocks their socks off.’ Not very fair I know but then as I’ve said it doesn’t cost anything to answer.

One word of advice submit early, the earlier the better as the submissions are read on a first come first read basis. If you don’t win the prize then you can submit the following month
