Huntley Short Story Competition

The Huntley Short Story competition is a non-profit contest intended to celebrate the diversity of literary talent in the world while giving back to that world at the same time.

It is organised by the South African author Shaun Ebelthite and all stories submitted will be judged by a panel of English students at Rhodes University.

All proceeds from the competition are donated to charity.

Submission Guidelines:

Stories must be between 600 and 1500 words.

Unfortunately all stories must please be in English.

The competition is open to anyone anywhere in the world.

The R10 entry fee can be posted with the submission, transfers into the competition’s bank account can also be arranged. The entry fee can be paid in foreign currency approximately equal to R10 (Eg. $2, £ 1).

You can enter as many times as you like.

You can enter by emailing your story (with the text copied into the body of the email) to huntleyss@hotmail.com or by posting to 13 Huntley Street, Grahamstown, South Africa, 6139. Please be aware that if you email your story you must still post your entry fee at some point before the closing date.

Closing date is the 31st of June.

The winners will be announced on the 1st of September.
