Creative Writing Contests

A main aim of ABC Writers Network is to bring you one of the largest databases of creative writing databases on the web today. To do that we’ve searched the internet, got details of contests from magazines and newspapers, received information by mail and word of mouth. But we always need more so this is our plea to you. If you, or the writing group you belong to are hosting a contest then let’s us know and we will post your information here. What Will It Cost?
Absolutely nothing except the few minutes it takes you to email us.

What Sort Of Information Do You Require?
We need the following:
Contest Name e.g. ABC Creative Writing Contest 2008
Category Contest Falls Into: Prose or Poetry (if you have separate contests in each category then send them individually.)
Contest Details: How to enter. Cost. Where to send entries. Website or email address. Closing date. You might also like to add some information about your group or organization. Within reasons we place no restrictions on the number of words but for visual effect we would suggest a minimum of 200 and a maximum of 550.

Do You Advertise Any Writing Contest?
We operate restrictions.
No adult contests. This is a family friendly website.
No vanity contests. By vanity contest we mean that the contest must have a real result at the end of the day for the individual who wins the contest. One of our main guidelines for this is: Is there a cash prize or something of real value to the winner.
Contest must be in the English language e.g British, American, Canadian, Australian English
For legal reasons we reserve the right not to post.

Where And How To Send Details?
Send details of your contest to kevin AT abcwritersnetwork.co.uk (replace AT with @).
For security reasons and to insure that I don’t pick up any nasty virus that may be floating around out there you must put the details of the contest in the main body of your email.
We will not open attachments; this is one of the quickest ways to spread viruses.

How Will The Information Be Displayed.
Your information will appear under three catagories.
1. The normal daily posting
2. The month the contest ends e.g. November
3. The category the contest falls into Prose or Poetry. If there is sufficient demand for a category for scripts or novels etc we will add these categories later..

And that’s it except to wish you good luck with your contest and good luck with your own writing.

Kevin
