Grist Short Story And Poetry Competition
Oct 12th, 2008 | By Kevin | Category: CompetitionsThe two competitions – one for short stories and one for poetry – will result in the best entries being published in a forthcoming anthology called Grist, a collection of both new and established writers’ work, including that of judges Simon Armitage and Joanne Harris, supported by the University of Huddersfield
Grist is a new annual anthology of the best new writing from around the world in English. The judges for this year’s competition are Joanne Harris (short fiction) and Simon Armitage (poetry) Focusing on poetry and short fiction, each issue will feature the winners of the Grist annual poetry and short fiction competitions, as well as specially commissioned work from some of the best established writers. Grist is interested in fresh new voices with something to say.
Patrick Stewart, Chancellor of the University of Huddersfield says: “by putting emerging writers alongside some of the biggest names in contemporary literature, Grist provides a unique opportunity for those starting out as writers ”. For the reader of Grist, each issue in book form will provide two hundred pages of the best new writing around.
I normally don’t pulish contests where there is no aparent prize fund but in this case as it is back by a University I’m making an exception.
