Competitions
ABC Writers Network offer a free database of current writing competitions containing details and contact information. We update our database on a regular basis. While we make every effort to insure that only legitimate contest are published we would ask our readers to contact us if they have any concerns about individual contests.
We extend an invitation to writers groups and other organizations hosting contests to get in contact with us with details of their contest and we’ll happily publish.
Global Short Story Competition.
This contest, which is supported by the Darlington Arts Centre in County Durham and renowned author Bill Bryson, is for stories of up to 2,000 words on any theme.
Closing: End of each month.
Prize: 1st – £100. Runner-up £25. After a year the monthly winners will be considered for an annual cash prize.

Travel Writing Competition (ongoing weekly contest)
The “Just Back” weekly competitions are open to residents of the UK, Channel Islands Isle of Man and Republic of Ireland aged 18 years or over except employees of Telegraph Media Group Limited, The Post Office, their families, agents or anyone else professionally associated with this competition.
The winning entrant of each weekly competition will receive £200 in the foreign currency of his or her choice. Prizes must be claimed within 60 days of the winner being notified.
