The fifteenth annual writers inc Writers-of-the-Year Competition welcomes prose and poetry in all styles, forms and subjects.

The purpose of this annual writing contest, named in honor of Willamette Writer’s founder, Kay Snow, is to help writers reach professional goals in writing in a broad array of categories. The deadline for entries for the 2008 contest is April 23, 2008.

That is the question behind Author v Author, a new national short story competition.

The Franco-British Council together with Prospect magazine announces a short story prize. The prize aims to encourage more students to learn French, and to combat the alarming trend which has seen the number of pupils taking the language at GCSE plummet by 30% since 2004.

A prize of $500 will be rewarded. We invite you to write your own Green short story of up to 2,000 words in length.

High school students can earn prize money by writing a short story as part of the Great Michigan Read Hemingway Writing Contest.
