Author v Author
What’s in your imagination?
That is the question behind Author v Author, a new national short story competition.
The concept is very simple. Local newspapers from the Johnston Press Group encourage their readers to take part in the competition. Writers go to the website www.authorvauthor.com and submit their story of no more than 5,000 words into the section relevant to their age: child, young adult or adult. The stories are made available online and can be read by anyone who registers on the website. Readers are encouraged to judge each story by rating it from 1-5.
The winning story in each category will be the one with the largest number of points. Every story has an equal chance of winning in its category and the winners will genuinely be “the people’s choice”.
The competition will progress through three rounds:
Local - where each newspaper will identify winners in each category.
Regional - the winners from the local round will go into one of nine regional heats.
Final - the regional winners will be entered into the final round to discover this year’s Author v Author winners.
Entries can be accepted from 21 January to midnight on 30 April 2008.
The competition is looking for authors and judges from all over the UK so why not go to www.authorvauthor.com and register and join in. Have some fun writing, reading and commenting on entries.
Author v Author has kindly selected the National Literacy Trust to be their partner charity for the competition.
